Mac vs. PC: Which Is Better for Gaming?

Let’s be real: Windows PCs have utterly dominated computer gaming for at least the past two decades, and arguably more. Apple’s Mac, though powerful and attractive, fell far short of the quickest Windows PCs in graphics performance, and MacOS’s lackluster support for cutting-edge 3D visuals didn’t help. The story is shifting, however, as Mac computers with Apple Silicon begin to challenge the grunt of high-end Windows PCs. Apple also pairs these advances with its own graphics API, Metal, which is similar to OpenGL/OpenCL or Vulkan. Mac gaming is better than ever, and the new M3 chip is promising. But is it really enough to challenge Windows PCs in the long run? Dive into our in-depth guide to help you decide ahead of upcoming Black Friday Gaming PC deals. 8BitDo Retro Mechanical Keyboard Review

I'm a big fan of throwback-inspired design. Make something new but design it to resemble something old, and I'm basically Philip J. Fry from Futurama demanding the immediate removal of my currency. And so, as is my brand, when I first saw 8BitDo's new Retro Mechanical Keyboards I was instantly in love. And on top of its shameless yet effective nostalgia play, the keyboard includes a pair of comically oversized, customizable buttons. If there's one thing I love nearly as much as nostalgia, it's novelty. But does the Retro Keyboard live up to all of my expectations? Yeah, actually. 8BitDo Retro Mechanical Keyboard – Design and FeaturesThere are two versions of this beautiful thing: the "N Edition," which borrows its styling from the US Nintendo Entertainment System, and the Fami Edition, which resembles the Japanese Famicom. I was sent the N Edition for the review, although personally I much prefer the look of the Fami Edition. The N has the same dull grays, bla..

Steam Deck vs. PlayStation Portal: Comparing Gaming Handhelds

Now that PlayStation Portal will be arriving on November 15, we thought it would be the perfect time to take a look at how it compares to the extremely popular Steam Deck. In short, the two devices serve completely different purposes. While you can stream games from your gaming PC to the Steam Deck, the Steam Deck also allows you to install and run games natively, which is something the PlayStation Portal can't do – instead it can only play PS5 games via remote play. That's the biggest difference between the two devices. There are plenty of people who use the Steam Deck as their primary way to play games via Steam. That literally cannot be the case for the PlayStation Portal, since you also need a PS5 for it to work. As such, the PlayStation Portal is quite a bit cheaper, should probably have longer batter life (though we don't know for certain yet), and has a higher resolution display. But that might not be worth it if you don't want to invest a couple hundred dol..

When Should You Buy a Graphics Card?

If you’re looking to upgrade your gaming PC, buying one of the best graphics cards can end up being one of the most expensive components. With that in mind sometimes it’s worth holding off and waiting for the best time to buy a new GPU, but when is that? For the Best Time to Buy a GPU, Keep in Mind:What Type of Games You PlaySales Events Such as Black Friday and Prime DayWhen Is the Next Generation of GPUs Due to Be ReleasedWhat Hardware You Currently OwnWhat Type of Games You PlayThis might seem obvious to some, but if you play games that are less GPU intensive such as Roblox and Minecraft, you might want to consider steering away from a high-end RTX 4090 card and focusing your budget on something a little less… monstrous. If you’re on a budget, and you don’t need a NASA-certified graphics card, the best option is to look at older cards, such as the AMD Radeon RX 6600 or Nvidia’s equivalent offering, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050. If you don’t plan to play GPU-intensive games, or you’re..
