Stalker 2: Heart Of Chornobyl Finally Launches In September

GSC Game World has set September 5 as the launch date for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, confirming the release of the first-person shooter on Xbox Series X/S and PC.

This announcement came through a newly released trailer today, which emphasized September 5 as the definitive release date. This suggests that GSC Game World is certain there will be no further postponements for the much-anticipated shooter. Originally scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2024, the game’s launch has been delayed to the newly announced date.

Initially announced in 2020, the development journey of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl faced numerous challenges and interruptions. The situation became particularly difficult when GSC Game World, the studio behind the game and located in Ukraine, had to halt operations in February 2022 due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The war forced many employees to flee their homes, including in Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital. The war deeply impacted the team, with some staff members, including developer Vladimir “Fresh” Yezhov, joining the Ukrainian defense efforts. Tragically, Yezhov was killed in combat in 2022.

By December 2022, GSC Game World had resumed work and released a new gameplay trailer for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. The game, initially planned for a 2023 release, experienced further delays, pushing it to the first quarter of this year. Now, it’s confirmed to be launching on Xbox Series X/S and PC on September 5.
