GTA 6: Everything We Know

GTA 6 has officially been confirmed, and the anticipation is building for an upcoming trailer in the coming weeks. Rockstar seems poised to unveil the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto series.

Significant amounts of information about GTA 6 were leaked last year, leading Rockstar to remove a substantial amount of early-development footage from the internet. These leaks offered glimpses of GTA 6 in a pre-alpha state, leaving us with only broad insights into what the game might offer at launch. Among upcoming games, GTA 6 is undoubtedly one of the most eagerly awaited by players worldwide.

GTA 6 Release Date Prediction

After over a decade, Rockstar Games is finally set to unveil a sequel to Grand Theft Auto 5, the iconic open-world crime saga that has amassed a staggering 190 million copies in sales. On December 4th, eager GTA fans were treated to their first official glimpse of Grand Theft Auto 6 through a trailer that unexpectedly surfaced a day early, following a leak of gameplay footage.

While some details about GTA 6 had already leaked in 2022, the game’s debut trailer shattered expectations. It teems with street-level mayhem, featuring illegal street races, convenience store heists, encounters with alligators, and a hefty dose of the peculiar Floridian ambiance. The trailer also introduces the game’s dual protagonists, engaging in an array of petty criminal activities.

Rockstar Games has yet to provide an official release date for GTA 6, but they did narrow it down to a release window: 2025. However, it’s worth noting that Rockstar is renowned for delaying its major titles in pursuit of perfection. Their previous flagship release, Red Dead Redemption 2, faced three public delays, and in 2013, Grand Theft Auto 5 experienced a notable delay, shifting from its initial spring launch to its eventual release in September 2013.

In summary, even if Rockstar announces a release date or window by the close of 2023, history suggests that flexibility remains a key aspect of their development process.

GTA 6 Storyline and Playable Character

While Rockstar Games has not officially confirmed the story or characters in GTA 6, various reports and rumors offer insights into what we might anticipate from Grand Theft Auto 6’s narrative.

According to a Bloomberg report by Jason Schreier, GTA 6 is expected to introduce the series’ first female protagonist and revolve around a duo of characters inspired by the American criminal pair Bonnie and Clyde. Leaked gameplay footage seems to corroborate this by showcasing two distinct protagonists, one male and one female.

The Bloomberg report also delves into Rockstar’s efforts to transform its workplace culture, emphasizing the company’s commitment to becoming a more inclusive and progressive organization over the past four years. As part of this transformation, “Grand Theft Auto VI will have a female Latina protagonist – the first playable woman in modern Rockstar history.” However, the identity and role of the second leading character remain unclear.

Schreier’s report highlights that the female character, who is of Latina descent, will be one of the two central characters. Developers at Rockstar are taking care not to perpetuate humor or stereotypes about marginalized groups in contrast to previous entries in the series.

GTA 6 News

The first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 was debuted in December, as officially confirmed by Rockstar Games.

In a recent post on Rockstar Newswire, Sam Houser, the President of Rockstar Games, reminded fans of the upcoming 25th anniversary of the company, and in the same month, they will unveil the inaugural trailer for the next installment of Grand Theft Auto.

Additionally, Rockstar Games has acknowledged the authenticity of the GTA 6 leak that occurred in September 2022. The team released a statement on Twitter, confirming that the leak contained “early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto.” While they refrained from commenting on specific details within the leak, the team expressed their disappointment in having details of their upcoming game shared in this manner.

Importantly, Rockstar assured that the leak would not result in any disruptions to their live game services or long-term effects on ongoing projects. They pledged to provide an official update on their next game “when it is ready.”

In September, Grand Theft Auto 6 experienced one of the most significant leaks in gaming history. Approximately 90 videos, showcasing early-in-development gameplay footage, were posted on the official GTA Forums by a user named teapotuberhacker. Following copyright strikes, Rockstar and Take-Two subsequently removed these videos. In an updated, now-deleted post, teapottuberhacker mentioned intentions to negotiate with Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive.
