In a recent interview, Adam Kiciński, CEO of CD Projekt Red, the powerhouse behind The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, emphasized the company’s commitment to remaining independent. Speaking with the Polish media outlet Parkiet, Kiciński addressed takeover rumors and outlined the studio’s vision for the future.
Through a translated response, Kiciński clarified, “We are not interested in being part of a larger entity. Our entire journey has led us to where we are today, and we believe we’ll grow even bigger and stronger in the coming years. We have ambitious goals and are passionate about our work. Independence is a core value for us.”
Additionally, Kiciński mentioned that CD Projekt Red is not looking to acquire other studios merely for financial consolidation. Despite their October 2021 acquisition of Molasses Flood, known for The Flame in the Flood and Drake Hollow, CD Projekt Red’s focus remains on strategic growth. Molasses Flood is currently developing a Witcher universe game, codenamed “Sirius,” reflecting CD Projekt Red’s continued expansion within its own creative realms.
